Anya Gourley

Born to a family of artists in Laguna Beach, California, Anya draws on the natural beauty of her home in handcrafted, organic designs.

Classically trained in flute, voice, theatre, and painting, Anya now turns to metal adornments as a medium to share her natural sculptural designs with everyone. She draws inspiration not only from her beachside residence, but also from organic elements found on her travels throughout the country and abroad. Her work is shown at the Sawdust Festival in Laguna Beach, where her family has been exhibiting since 1969.

Utilizing a variety of techniques, I use the frequency of silver and gold to tell memory – to share the eucalyptus seed I mired at while playing at the Sawdust Festival as a kid – to wear the seashell washed up at low tide – to celebrate the leaves that sprinkled my fairy playgrounds. May the stories impressed in my work echo G-d’s love within and without you.
